well, our baby girl is not quite a baby anymore! she is definitely a mover and a shaker and is changing and learning so much every day it is constantly amazing me!
although her appetite seems to have decreased she is still quite the big girl! she weighs around 22-23 lbs. and is still a shorty...around 30 inches tall.
wears size 12 month clothes and is starting to wear a few 12-18 month outfits
wears size 4 diapers
wears size 4 shoes
has 6 teeth (top 4 middle and bottom 2 middle)
she goes to bed around 7-7:30 each night and wakes up between 7-7:30 each morning. she has become a good sleeper but still is not a good napper. we are lucky if she sleeps 2 hours total during the day. usually she takes a 30-45 minute morning nap and a 45-an hour afternoon nap. this seems to be all she needs though, she wakes up ready to play usually! :)
walks great and loves to run too!
she is very social (this is one the of the traits i love best about her right now)...she does not know a stranger. she will play peek-a-boo with every stranger who looks her way! she waves and smiles at everyone and even blows kisses to some! she still adores kids and lights up (sometimes screaming!) when she sees them.

can follow simple instructions...go get your shoes, find your hat, take the ball to mommy, etc.

LOVES books...favorites are brown bear, brown bear, who's that baby? (mirror book), the wheels on the bus, goodnight moon and toes, ears and nose (lift and flap book) she will go through her whole basket of books until finding the one she wants, pick it up bring it me or brian and sit in our laps waiting for us to read it to her. of course the teacher in me adores this, i hope her love of books continues throughout her whole life. it is one of my absolute favorite times of day...

like i mentioned, her appetite seems to be decreasing at the moment...she usually takes only a few bites and then wants to move on to the next thing! she drinks whole milk from a sippy cup at meal times and water throughout the day. still gets a 5 oz. bottle at night...we are decreasing this by an ounce each week so hopefully this will be gone soon but i am not in too big of a rush...she loves her night time bottle...it's like her dessert i think...and once it is gone i really feel like i have a toddler on my hands!

Spring Break
the week of march 14th bssd had spring break...it is so wonderful having a husband i work with so we get the exact same vacation days...truly a blessing! we adored having so much undivided time with lilian. it is going to be a hard day monday going back to work after being around her 24/7! we had a wonderful break together and even got some nice weather too, long awaited and much needed! we hope these nice days keep coming, we loved taking lilian to the park and playing outside. some highlights of our break...
1. spring break = spring cleaning
you know the teacher in me had a BIG "to do" list over our break...and i am happy to say we did actually do a lot of organizing! brian installed shelving in our storage room (which looked like a tornado had hit it with all of lilian's toys and clothes she had outgrown, boxes and gifts from christmas and her birthday, and all the other things you don't know where to put so they get shoved in there!) our biggest goal being to organize all of her baby clothes and toys she does not need or use anymore. check! however, 6 tubs later and only a little over a year i am wondering where everything else is going to go?? hmmmm....
one of lilian's newest things is climbing into EVERYTHING. as b and i were busy sorting through her old stuff we set aside her infant car seat and turn around to find her inside of it! she got stuck and could not get out!
2. breaking news...Lilian says MAMA
yes, the long awaited "MAMA" was CLEARLY said over spring break and is now said every day all day (and i can't say i mind!) it is the best word i have ever heard being said from her sweet mouth!!! this, as brian says, was definitely the highlight of my break! lilian had some extra mommy time this week too since daddy went to des moines to visit some of his buddies and watch the ncaa tournament. one of our favorite days was st. patty's day when we went to lunch with aunt jilly!

3. lots of outside playtime
we were loving this 70 degree weather (even if it was the last two days of break, we'll take it!) we took lilian to railroad park and a park in independence after enjoying some yummy ice cream. this was another first over break, her first taste of ice cream...yum!

4. visiting nannie and ross
while brian was away lilian and i spent the day on friday at nannie and ross's house. lilian does say "nannie" too! nannie is very pleased about this! she also mutters something when she is "talking" with ross, we think it is her version of his name. she loved walking around their house pointing at the dog statue and repeating "gogo" about a hundred times! she also loved the grandfather clock and checking out the golfers outside from their back door window. we had a great visit!
5. new discovery...marshmallows!
sunday nights we do dinner with my family. since the weather was awesome we grilled out at my parent's. my mom has these two cute little chairs for lilian and curtis...they were enjoying the weather hanging out as curtis was feeding lilian her new favorite food, marshmallows. the girl could not get enough, she would grunt until he fed her another (and another, and another!) too funny.

Iowa Trip
gotta love spring break...a definite perk to being teachers! we started our spring break off by heading to iowa to visit family. we had not been back since christmas with all the festivities going on in kc for close friends so we were excited to make a trip back finally! it was a weekend full of family time. saturday and sunday were filled with playtime with lauren and andrew. lilian LOVES her cousin (and i think they like her a lot too!)
lilian is not a fan of long car rides so we usually make a stop on the way in st. joe at menard's (similar to home depot). she has discovered she enjoys "pushing" the cart...this could get interesting every time we go to a store from now on!

we had family dinners both nights and were able to take lilian to church on sunday. she did pretty well! one of our major goals is to find a church we can start attending on a regular basis close to home. after church we had lunch in the basement before the twins headed off for their sunday school skating party. lilian LOVED seeing all the kids and would scream in excitement to whoever listened. she is definitely not shy! it was a wonderful weekend! we love you all so much.

New Obsessions
you've heard it a million times, "kids are into everything!" we are experiencing that first hand every day all day at the hartstacks! lilian is walking/running everywhere around the house and constantly discovering new things, many of them she should not be getting into of course! her newest feat is getting on the mantle of the fireplace and standing up, no pictures yet to document that one! her first love as of late, getting underneath the kitchen table and hiding under there (i think mostly from ralph), she also loves to push the chairs along the tile floors. see below.
she also been LOVING her babies and taking them on stroller rides (thanks aunt maggie for the awesome stroller, it is definitely the favorite toy right now!) she'll put both her babies in the stroller at a time and pretty much anything she can find as well (remote control, my phone, etc.) :) she loves it. she also loves giving her baby hugs and burping her baby.
another favorite...spoons, yes, you read that right! she empties her "drawer" in the kitchen ten times a day and will always search high and low for her spoons (needless to say when it's feeding time mommy can never find a spoon since they are strung all over our house!) i thought these pictures were pretty hilarious...

Mom's Birthday
my mom's birthday was march 4th, so we celebrated tonight at our house. i hosted dinner for my grandparents, parents, and bryan, alison and curtis. i made chicken spinach pasta (it was a hit), alison made a yummy spring salad, and nannie made her awesome twinkie dessert and chocolate pie (at mom's request). my brother and i both got her gift cards to beauty brands (i guess we know her well!) here are some pictures of our night!
