time keeps flying by! lilian has turned into a toddler right before our eyes! she weighs 22.5 lbs. (her weight has stabilized...has not changed much in the past 4 months or so) my grandparents said the other day they thought she was getting skinnier :) she was quite the chunk for awhile! ha ha. she is still around 30 inches tall as well.

wears size 5 shoes
wears 12 month clothes and 12-18 months clothes (some of the shorts are more like capris though!)
has 8 teeth
favorite foods...watermelon, strawberries, club crackers, goldfish, bananas, mac and cheese, colby jack cheese, turkey sticks, veggie straws
daily schedule...her wake up time has gotten early now since daylight savings happened (boo) she is usually up around 6:30 each day. sometimes she'll lay back down on one of us for a half hour more but she is almost always up and around by 7 each day. she is slowly phasing out her morning nap. it really depends on the day as to whether or not she takes one or two naps. her naps are still pretty short (45-60 minutes usually). if she only takes one nap then it's closer to an hour and a half.
interests...people! still waves at strangers, says baby when she spots one, etc. she does this new thing with her wave where she squints her eyes and puts her hand right in front of her eyes like she is hiding or shy, not sure where she gets these little things! she is into picking things up and sorting them right now. she loves to group things together, i guess organization is in the genes, ha! she still loves her books, especially her peek-a-boo books with the flaps and her big Elmo book. she has some picture dictionary type books that she is getting really good at being able to point to different objects when asked. she loves to dance and wiggle!
words...mama, dada, pops (my dad), nana (my nannie), gogo (doggie), hat, hi, bye, ball, baby, bird (not the clearest), ba (bottle), ma (milk) and goes to the fridge to wait for it :), bru (brush-for toothbrush---this has become a new favorite of hers to chew on with her new teeth coming in), co (coat), mmm (fish), nose, car, cur (curtis)
animal sounds...snake (ssss), cow, tiger, monkey (my absolute favorite), owl, pig face, lizard face, kitty cat, sheep
body parts she can identify...head, hair, eyes, nose, teeth, lips, ears, feet, arms, hands, belly. one of the best laughs we had these past few weeks was when we asked her where her legs were and she ran and got the eggs out of her easter basket. :)
she does great with identifying family members/friends' pictures on our fridge and in her photo album too.
she has become quite the daddy's girl these past few weeks. it has become a problem during the week when we are getting ready for work because she stands at brian's feet and wants to be held! ugh! she cries and whines until he picks her up. not a good habit! we are working on our crankiness in the mornings...that's our newest goal.
each day we are constantly amazed by the new things she is learning. we are so thankful to be her parents and thank god everyday for all our blessings!

Happy Easter
brian and i had off good friday so we headed up to iowa to spend the weekend for easter. we had lots of family and friend time! friday we visted eric (who just got back from his tour of duty) and his son, sander. lilian and him share the same birthday, a year apart. he is a doll! it was so great to see eric and welcome him home.
that night we went to dinner with the whole family to a local mexican restaurant and the kids played outside afterwards. that night we went to virginia's for a few drinks with some of brian's friends that live around stanton.
saturday morning we went to an egg hunt at the red oak square. lilian has been loving looking for easter eggs around the house and putting them in her basket, so this was the first run at it for real...she did great and had so much fun! some of the candy was just lying in the grass (not in eggs) and she would just look at it and then walk away. if it wasn't in an egg she was not picking it up!

the easter bunny made a special appearance. this is one of my favorite pictures from the weekend...as if to say, "hmmm....this is not how i pictured you!"

after the egg hunt we went to lunch with aunt andrea, grandma rhoda, aunt leanne and the twins. then we took lilian to a local hardware store that had chicks and bunnies for the kids to see. she was yelling "DUCK" at them the whole time!
after our nap we were ready for round 2 of the easter egg hunts. we went to the stanton care center (where brian's grandmother lives) and had another hunt for the kids. this time a bunch of brian's friends were back in town and brought their babies. after the hunt we went across the street to a park and let the kids play together.

after church we went to lonnie and denny's for an easter lunch with brian's dad's side of the family. there was also another egg hunt!
this was also her first time on the farm. she loved making her piggy face and mooing for the cows! after dessert it was time to hit the road back to kansas city and our final stop, my parent's house for easter with my grandparents, parents, and bryan and alison. i felt bad for lily on that long car ride but she did well! i had to snap a pic of her in her car seat with her big grin!
we enjoyed a delicious meal at my mom's and then lilian and curtis opened their easter baskets from my parents and enjoyed one final egg hunt! good thing we practiced, her skills were put to good use this weekend!

lilian's favorite item from her basket...her cool new shades for the pool this summer. she thought she was the coolest! she kept walking around the living room with them on and would stop and lift them up on her forehead and then put them back on her eyes. it was so cute!

monday night the college crew got together and brought dinner to wes, emily and new baby grant. now that they are home and settling in with grant we thought we would come over and visit. we had papa murphy's pizza and i made heath bar brownies! lily brought her easter eggs and basket to entertain herself, ha! i loved holding little baby grant, he was an angel all night! em and wes are adjusting well to parenthood! welcome home, grant!

Baby Grant Arrives
thursday, april 14th emily gave birth to grant robert wilson. he weighed 7 lbs. 2 oz. and was 20 inches long. we are so excited for the wilsons! friday night brian and i went up to liberty to visit them at the hospital. of course, lilian kept saying, "baby, baby!" both mommy and baby grant are doing wonderful and will get to go home tomorrow. we are so thrilled for their new family!
i loved holding him, it feels like a lifetime ago that lily was that small! we cannot wait to visit grant again. we plan to go see him and make dinner for em and wes once they get settled at home. congrats guys!

First Big Boo Boo
tonight was the first of many (i am sure) boo boos in our life! we took lilian on a wagon ride to enjoy this awesome weather. we were getting close to home and she was whining to get out of the wagon (as i have mentioned before she is an on the go girl, not much sitting!) so brian and i let her out of the wagon and before either of us could grab for her hand she was off in a sprint, downhill on concrete...i think you can see how this story ends...OUCH! she tripped, not being able to keep up with herself, and went face first down. she was bleeding pretty good and i was panicked not knowing if she chipped a tooth (or worse, lost one) i scooped her up and ran inside trying to wipe the blood with a wet washcloth which she hated. she has a fat lip and a scraped up nose and upper lip. as far as we can tell her teeth are okay thankfully. we think she cut the upper part of her inside lip and that was where most of the blood was coming from...poor baby! i felt SOOO horrible! after a few minutes she was in good spirits and playing again of course but i do not do well with things like that, i know no mom does, but man, it was not something i want to relive anytime soon! praying for a speedy recovery!

Warrior Baby Weekend
we spent the weekend with babies, babies and more babies...all james walker (our school) warrior (our mascot) babies! saturday night brian and i went over to prudence's with lilian. brian and jeff watched the final four while prudence and i chatted and watched the kiddos! lilian and westyn had fun "talking" and dancing, it was too cute watching them wiggle their rears together! they both have a love of yo, gabba, gabba as well so they bonded over that. some pics of their date...

sunday we joined the ackersons at the meyers' house to visit their new twin girls, addison and alexis. they are still soooo tiny and sweet! i loved holding them and seriously cannot remember when lilian was that tiny! it made me miss holding a baby since she DOES NOT let us hold her anymore (unless she is super tired, which is rare!) i loved having them snuggle in my arms. lilian got to play with heather and jc's older daughter, sophia (18 months). it was fun watching them interact together! we hope to have lots of play dates with these girls in the future!

Love This!
a friend of mine had this posted on her facebook page and i got teary eyed reading it, everything is so true. your life truly changes in every way after becoming a mother!
it is called my child, my life
there is no doubt, my child, that I gave you life; but you, my darling, returned the favor.
My life was good. I was happy, successful, and thriving; but I had no idea the richness and magic I was missing. I did not know that I was living only a half-life. The things I once held so dear, in which I invested so much time and effort and belief – those things still exist, but they have been relegated to a much lesser place in my heart.
How could they ever compete with you, my child? You who can make me laugh, and make me sing? You show me the world in bright new colors, arrayed in all its impossible possibilities. In your mind and heart there are no barriers, no shackles. The world is your oyster, and so it is mine as well. With my hand in yours, my eyes can suddenly see that all doors are open.
Each moment of wonder that you experience gives me back some of my own wonder. And wonder is love – humble and awe-inspiring love. We drink in the world together – each blade of grass, each butterfly, each unbroken dream. You restore my faith in all that is good in the world. You bring hope and love surging through my heart in a tidal wave of emotion that feels like euphoria.
Everything is new and exciting and holds the potential for joy.
