Halloween Take 1

What a busy, fun, fall weekend we had! Friday Brian and I had off school due to conferences all week so we were able to enjoy a long weekend...always a plus! On Friday we got up early and headed to Caroyln's Pumpkin Patch to use our season pass we bought. It has been beautiful fall weather, we have been spoiled! We met Emily and Grant at the patch too! We enjoyed yummy pumpkin donuts (I forgot how incredible these were, they were worth the trip alone!), feeding the goats, playing on the slides, and of course the train ride! It is the perfect fall destination for kids and definitely a fall tradition we adore!































Saturday morning we met up with the Ackersons at the Boo Blue Springs trick or treating event in downtown Blue Springs. The girls enjoyed walking around seeing all the other kids in their costumes and gathering candy from the different shops around town. afterwards, we went to a trunk or treat at First Bible Baptist Church...another tradition that we love.












Saturday night Brian and I had some adult Halloween fun too! We attended my brother and Alison's second annual Halloween party. They LOVE dressing up and everything Halloween and go all out transforming their house! Brian dressed as an inmate and I went as Alice in Wonderland. Thanks for a great party, guys!

Littlest Chiefs Fans

Of course Lilian and Graham could not be left out of the Chiefs excitement! 8 and 0 and the only undefeated team in the NFL...we have one happy daddy around this home! We cannot resist dressing them in Chiefs gear each Sunday! Thanks to my brother and Alison for Graham's first jersey! Alison gave it to me at my shower and we loved it so much. It was neat finally putting him in it for the first time. I have a feeling it will be the first of many jerseys in G's lifetime!

Chiefs!

Every year one of our family traditions is going to a Chiefs game all together in the fall. My dad gets a bunch of tickets and my whole family, along with close family friends, attend the game, along with a big tailgate beforehand. This year was especially fun for a couple of reasons...the biggest being the Chiefs are undefeated! They have been playing awesome and were 5-0 going into Sunday's game against their big rivals, the Raiders. Another reason this game was a memorable one was the fact the fans were trying to break a record and make Arrowhead Stadium the loudest stadium ever, which we succeeded! Brian's parents came down Saturday night and stayed the night so we could wake up bright and early and head to the stadium at 7:30! Graham and Lilian got to spend a special day with grandma and grandpa. We lucked out with a beautiful day...low 50s in the morning, sunshine all day, and by the end of the day the temperature was in the mid 70s. We enjoyed Zarda BBQ and all sorts of yummy sides and desserts at the tailgate. The game was incredible (and loud with our record breaking attempts!). We brought Colleen and Drew to the game and all sat together which was a blast. The Chiefs pulled off another win and were so fun to watch. The atmosphere was electric! Thanks, Dad for a great day!

Amelia's Birthday

Lilian's best friend, Amelia, is turning three October 25th! Colleen and Drew celebrated this weekend by hosting her party at Armstrong Park in Grain Valley on Saturday. It was a beautiful day and the park was the perfect location. The kids were able to go play in between bites of delicious pizza and cupcakes and watching Amelia open gifts. Amelia was adorable opening her gifts and would come over to Lilian to have a sidebar conversation about each one! They were already planning which toys she should bring to Michele's house for share day on Monday! Lilian is so blessed to have Amelia. Happy third birthday, A! We also used the occasion to break out Graham's bow tie onesie outfit my friend, Megan, got him...he was quite dapper!

Football Fans

Well, we all know how much Brian loves football so you can imagine his excitement at the moment to have both the Chiefs and Mizzou undefeated and playing so well. He is one happy camper! The funny thing is, Graham truly locks in on the tv when football is on...we have another little fan in the making. I can already picture the two of them watching games together and playing catch in the front yard. I cannot wait to see what a special bond B and G will have together! Here are some fun pictures of our family enjoying some football! We went to Curtis's football game last Saturday morning and we tend to coordinate our outfits these days with either all of us in Mizzou on Saturday or Chiefs gear on Sundays! Go Chiefs and Tigers! Oh, and we have already brainwashed sis...every time she sees a jayhawk she will say, "There is a jayhawk! We don't like that team!" This gets pretty embarrassing when the jayhawk she spots is being worn by someone in the middle of a store! Oops!

Wizardly Weekend

As of recently Lilian has traded in her princess obsession with an obsession of Wizard of Oz. It all started because Brian and I loved the idea of having her and Graham be a duo for Halloween. We came up with some cute options...Rapunzel and her frog, Snow White and one of the seven dwarfs, Little Bo Peep and a sheep, etc. We went to the Halloween store one night right when it opened actually because Lilian begged to go ever since she saw it appear! We spotted an adorable Dorothy costume (which had been on the aforementioned list of options) and decided it was a sign and we went for it it! We were a little nervous Lilian would not approve of our grand idea since she really did not know much about Dorothy, however, once she saw the ruby slippers and that the dress had sparkles on it, she was sold. We also bought Graham's costume that night, the cowardly lion. :) we need not have worried about her not getting excited about her costume...she has quickly become obsessed with everything Wizard of Oz! The weekend she was in Iowa with Brian Grandma showed her the movie and she came back from that trip quoting every line and memorizing every scene. I was a little nervous some parts would scare her, as I remember being scared of them when I was a child, but nope! Lucky for us, Wizard of Oz is all the rage around here lately! On Saturday our nature center, Burr Oak Woods, hosted a Land of Oz event where we were able to take a guided walking tour on their trail and meet all the characters of Wizard of Oz along the way. Lilian was so into it and loved every minute of it! Brian and I kept looking at each other with huge smiles on our faces. It is such an awesome feeling watching your child get so excited and happy about something. Each time she would spot another character on the trail ahead she would shout out, "I see Glenda!" (Or whichever character it was) and was filled with excitement. It was so cute how much she was genuinely enjoying it all. It was an amazing event for little ones!












The 3D IMAX version of Wizard of Oz just so happened to be playing this month as well so of course we had to take Lilian to see it! My mom watched Graham on Sunday morning so the three of us could have a special date together. It was the first time Brian and I have taken her to the movies together. Usually my parents take her and Curtis and this summer Brian took her a few times but we have never been together as a family. It was the first of many movie dates!
