Sprinkle Shower

what a blessing it is to have amazing friends! on wednesday night baby graham (we have officially decided on his name!) and I were spoiled with a sprinkle shower hosted by mona, cindy and hillary. knowing them I knew they would go above and beyond, and of course, they did! they served all my favorite appetizer foods...fruit, veggies, rotel, buffalo chicken dip, pin wheels, cowboy caviar, the list goes on and on. for dessert fonda made her specialty cupcakes with cookie dough centers...it was heaven! it was a wonderful night gabbing with girlfriends and celebrating baby graham's coming arrival. he was showered with some wonderful gifts! lilian even received some big sister gifts which was so thoughtful. I didn't want the evening to end! mona also had a little chalkboard where all the guests wrote a special message to the baby and they took a picture of the guest holding the message. these will be so fun to cherish and read! I feel so lucky to have such amazing women in my life! a special thank you to mona, cindy and hillary for planning the most adorable sprinkle a girl could ask for...completely blessed!

April Showers

april was filled with showers! my college friends have started a new tradition when we are expecting our second bambino. we all go see the finished nursery, bring gifts for mommy and baby and then go to a nice dinner together. we started this with jill at the melting pot and they were sweet enough to plan a memorable evening for me as well! they spoiled me and took me to the marina grog and galley. most of the girls had never been before so it was so fun to take them there for the first time. the weather was beautiful! they had an entire theme for the evening (um, emily!) and sent me an invitation for the night titled, "ships, ahoy, it's a boy!" it was adorable and i am so lucky to have such thoughtful friends (and this baby is so lucky to have aunts that love him already!) we enjoyed a delicious meal together. love you ladies!

 

 

 

at work on friday at the end of the day our principal announced over the intercom to come to the library for a quick staff meeting. this was unusual and we were all speculating what this surprise meeting could be about. in fact, i was commenting "who has a meeting on friday after school?" um, insert foot in my mouth...we walked into the library with a surprise sprinkle shower for brian and i from our entire staff! talk about unexpected and completely taken off guard! i have no idea how they pulled that off without either of us knowing, it was incredible. hillary did all the organizing and planning, so sweet of her! there was a big basket full of clothes, toys, books, blankets, etc. for our baby boy. just another reason we love working at jwe! we work with the best staff ever!

 

 

another special shower in april was for my friend, ashley. she is expecting her second baby as well and we are a week apart (i love it!) she has a little boy who is almost 2, paxton, and they are not finding out the sex of this baby. we joke that our babies will either be best buddies if she has a boy or boyfriend and girlfrieid if it is a girl! cindy, hillary and i went to the shower together and loved spoiling baby welch. i cannot wait to see if ashley has a boy and girl and to spend some time together over our maternity leaves while off from school for a little while in the fall! it's been fun to be pregnant with a good friend!

 



Hillary's Surprise 30th Birthday

thursday night we surprised my wonderful friend and team member, hillary, with a surprise party for her 30th birthday! her husband, seth, planned everything and did an amazing job keeping it all secret! it was hard for me being right across the hall from her and trying to plan everything without her knowing! I had to be very sneaky. I kept thinking she would see an email pop up from her husband any day and our cover would be blown! ha! we had the party at cindy's house (a favorite spot for get togethers) she walked in to everyone saying "surprise" and was beyond shocked! my pictures from the actual surprise were too dark but she was definitely surprised! happy birthday, hillary! lilian loved playing with amelia and seth and hillary's little girl (18 months) cora. they kept giving each other kisses on the couch!

Easter Weekend

we headed to iowa on good friday to spend easter weekend with brian's family. it will be our last visit before the baby is born which sounds crazy! he is coming soon! we enjoyed nice weather and hanging out with family all weekend! friday lauren, andrew and lilian played together and we took them to grandpa's farm to visit the horses and ride on the tire swing which they always love. saturday we made our way to a few easter egg hunts in town. the first was at the ymca since it rained in the morning the usual spot on the square was too muddy. boy was it crowded at the y! lilian had some tears because she didn't get the tootsie roll she wanted (life is tough for a 3 year old!) we also went to visit grandma Eleanor at the care center where they had another easter egg hunt for the kiddos. she was more successful at this one so no tears thankfully! that night we all went out for a mexican dinner. sunday we got up and went to church and then headed to brian's anut lonnie's for a big family easter lunch and get together. after eating we had another easter egg hunt all over the farm which was so fun for all the kids! lilian got a ton of eggs and was one happy girl!

 

 

after a wonderful lunch at Lonnie's we had to hit the road in order to make it back to kansas city in time to celebrate easter with my side of the family. we grilled out at my parent's house, enjoyed another afternoon of great weather, and one final easter egg hunt! she was a pro at this point! lilian and curtis loved searching for their eggs and running around together. my mom got her a princess easter basket as well which she of course loved! happy easter!
