Snowy Winter!

winter came late this year to kansas city. just when we were thinking we were going to luck out with another mild winter, snow hit...and a bunch of it! we had two snow storms in late february and then two more in march...each pounding us with a foot of snow almost every time! the one great part about it all was that it meant snow days and time spent home cuddled up with our girl! lilian would even run around the house screaming "snow day! snow day!" when she saw the snow falling. i think she enjoyed the extra mommy and daddy time, too! here are some fun pictures of brian and lilian in the snow. this was actually the first time she played in the snow. last winter was so mild we hardly had any snow so this year made up for that! she didn't really know what to think of it. once she tasted it though, she was in love. the girl loves ice, snow cones, and now snow!

Tiny Dancer

well, a moment i have long awaited for arrived...lilian took her very first dance class on wednesday night! we have talked about starting her dance class for a little while with her and telling her how she had to be three years old first and potty trained! she seemed very excited to start so we signed her up to start taking classes at the pointe in blue springs. a lady we work with takes her daughter there as well and enjoys it so we decided to take a trial class and see how lilian did. the class is on wednesdays from 5:00-6:00 and is for three and four year olds. they alternate between jazz, ballet, acrobats and tap each week. it was comical to say the least! she did a pretty great job listening and catching on to what the other girls were doing and she definitely LOVED every second of it. during the break she came out and gave us big hugs screaming, "I DID IT!" watching a bunch of three year olds in leotards and tutus is enough to warm anyone's heart. they have a little two way mirror/window for the parents to watch so brian and i of course were glued to that the entire time. i wish we had video to post! she cannot wait to go back!

Lovers of the Library

we have spent some fun times at the library this february! the first was a fancy nancy story time. lilian has been loving the two fancy nancy books we have at home so we thought she would enjoy hearing the story read aloud at the library. we were in for a treat! the lady who read it was dressed from head to toe as fancy nancy herself and did the best voices! it was adorable. afterwards, the kids got to make a bunch of different valentine day crafts!

the second event was a princess party on saturday morning. i wasn't sure what to expect for this one but i packed a couple of lilian's princess dresses in case the other girls came in theirs, boy was i glad i did! all the little girls came dressed in their favorite princess costumes, lilian was in heaven! we invited mary and chiari to join us as well and brought the snow white dress for chiari. they read the paper bag princess and then let all the girls make princess tiaras and their own paper bag princess out of a brown paper bag. it was such a cute event for a bunch of adorable princesses! we love the library! 

Jill's Sprinkle

one of my best friends, jill, is expecting her second baby in just a few weeks! the college girls wanted to do something special for her and her new son, brock, so we had a little "sprinkle" mini shower for her on saturday. we went to jill and mike's house first and opened gifts for baby brock. she received lots of cute clothes and new books for him. then we were able to see micah's new big girl room and the transformed nursery! jill's kids will be 15 months apart so she will be one busy mama! if anyone can handle it, she can! i am excited to have our boys close together! we celebrated by going down to the plaza and having an amazing dinner at the melting pot. none of us had been there in years so it was a fun treat! we enjoyed three courses of delicious food! everyone's favorite was the yummy dessert...chocolate and smores fondue with cheesecake, strawberries  marshmallows ...it makes my mouth water thinking about how good it was! it was a wonderful night celebrating jill and mr. brock. we cannot wait to meet him soon! he is set to arrive via c-section on february 25th. he has lots of aunts who already love him!
